How To Use Blog To Build Business

One of the quickest and easiest ways to build your work from your home business or online business is to start blogging and letting the world know about your skills, abilities and services. We hear the term blogging almost every day, yet only a few are able to take advantage of this channel to get our word out to the world. Here are some steps you should follow to use blogging most effectively.

Step1
Host the blog on your own server. There are of course plenty of places on the internet where you can go to sign up for a free blog, however you should be planning a long term online strategy and building a strong foundation on which to broadcast your message.
Step2
Let the blog search engines know about your blog. There are specific search engines which look to see when blogs are updated and then relay that outwards to the internet. You should ensure that you register your blog to the relevant blog engines.
Step3
Optimize your blog. The plain vanilla blog hosted on your own server is a major step forward from having your blog hosted on one of the free services on offer. However there are many software enhancements that can and should be made to your blog hosted on your own server. You should make your blog as search engine friendly as possible.
Step4
Change the look and feel of your blog. To make your blog stand out from the rest you should ideally look for a theme which links in with your own particular market segment, install and modify the theme to make your mark on the online world.
Step5
Post to your blog regularly. The search engines will find you based upon your content, users will come to your blog and read what you have to say when they begin to pick up your posts on a regular basis.
Step6
Post on other people’s blogs. You should go out on the internet and find related blogs, read their posts and make intelligent comments with a link back to your blog. This will build the association between your blog and the other blogs in your field.

Additional Tips For Using Blog To Build Your Business:

1. Brand yourself as THE expert in your niche (you may need a VERY focused niche!). For every post you make, your goal is to bring value to your target market. Showcase to them how you are the innovator in your niche. Set yourself apart from & above the competition.

2. Personify your business. The public’s default mental conception of a business is “faceless entity.” You can use your blog to give your business a face and personality that the public can bond with. You can’t put a price tag on that.

3. Promote your business as a national - or worldwide - presence. You can start promoting your blog today and be having conversations with international prospects tomorrow. Your blog makes you easier for them to find and more approachable.

4. Train your customers to talk to you, creating greater loyalty. If you are an innovator and you publish interesting stuff of value to your customers and prospects, they will make your blog a regular stop. Every interaction you have is an opportunity. You can build stronger bonds with customers. And you can move a prospect one step closer to becoming a customer.

5. The most important word in business is “trust.” I want to do business only with people I trust. I’ll bet you are the same way. Every personal message you put out in your blog takes you one step further to that bond of trust with prospects.

6. A well-executed blog gives you the ability to compete with giants who could easily squash you with one toe. You can target a set of long-tail keyword search phrases in your blog posts and even achieve pages of #1 ranking in Google and Yahoo and MSN searches. You’ll get traffic that you’d never get without your blog.

7. Your blog can give your business very affordable PR. Do you even have a budget for PR? At zero cost, you can use your blog to manage a problem or handle a crisis or announce a new product or some company achievement … all with no extra effort.
